Virginia Earthquake

Well this was not my planned posting I wanted to do but I felt I must discuss the dramatic experience yesterday here in VA!!!! We experienced our largest earthquake here since 1897 it was a 5.8 magnitude earthquake.

Virginia earthquake rattles East Coast

This I must say was one of the scariest moments of my life!!! Living on the East Coast you don't prepare for such a thing.  As I nicely stood by the window near my cubicle on the 3rd floor at work warming up from the son, I could feel a slight rattling under my feet.  I was thinking this rattling was a large truck just really close to the building until the shaking became more violent and I was almost knocked off my feet by the movement.  I looked at my one fellow co-worker who was near me and asked "what is going on", he preceeded to get up and I followed him to the end of the aisle where I was met by a loud "crash" and another co-worker who we both looked at each other and said " what do we do" we had no idea.  We continued to inch every so closely to the stairwell until she finally grabbed my arm and said "let's go".  As we continue down the stairs you see the swarm of people running down trying to hurry and get out of the building! It was pure madness.  As I exited the building I was still shaking in disbelief that this really just happened.  Also, within that instant of disbelief, a feeling of panic entered my body as I realized my boys are at home and I left my purse and cell phone inside the building, I had no way to contact them!  I started to cry hysterically trying to figure out what to do when someone offered their phones, but none were working! Finally someone had a working cell phone, however, I have trained my kids to not answer calls they don't know.  Well, this plan definitely back fired on me!  I decided I'm going to keep calling the house until they get annoyed and possibly answered the phone.  Thank goodness, they finally did and they were ok! They said a couple of things fell off the wall and the doggy was a little scared but they were ok! This feeling of relief came over but I was still ready to grab my things and get home to them and hug them every so tightly!  This experience is one I hope I don't experience any time soon.

Thanks fellow bloggers for allowing me to share my experience with you.  I hope my next posting will be a happier one.

Exciting Weekend

Well this weekend was so much fun!  My friend had an Ice Cream social at her home for her daughter returning back from camp

I thankfully avoided the ice cream trying to save myself from the calories so I can lose some weight

Also, I burned a few calories playing the Michael Jackson Experience wii game!!! Wow that game was so much fun!

Michael Jackson: The Experience [Wii Game]

After all the exciting fun at the ice cream social, we headed home to relax until Saturday when I took the boys out to lunch at one of my favorite restaurants

Then it was time to head to see Harry Potter and the deathly hallows Part 2

That movie was so exciting I could feel all kinds of emotions just running through me! It was GREAT!!! A must see with the kids!

And our wonderful weekend ended with the beautiful christening of my friends son Baby J

So after all that fun this weekend I'm still trying to recoup from all the fun and exciting activities.

Back To School Shopping

Well it's that time again for Back To School Shopping

It's was a TAX FREE holiday here in VA and I took full advantage

I decided last year that I was going to make school shopping easier on my budget by creating an actual school shopping budget and saving for it throughout the year.  I completed a spending analysis last year on what I spent in clothes and divided it by the amount of pay periods and had that amount set aside in savings each paycheck before I could even touch it!

This plan worked out GREAT! I decided I was heading to the outlets for my school shopping (They have the Best Sales) and went to the bank and pulled out the money I had saved all year for the school clothes shopping and I left all credit cards at home! No Add'l Debt for me!

Big A and Little A both picked out clothes of their choosing and a pair of converse and Jordan's for their fly footgear of course!

I feel so weird having finished my school shopping with no additional debt tacked on and I am completely done a month earlier than school begins!!! It's such a wonderful feeling I think I'm going to burst inside!

Well I think that's all for my blog today until next time fellow Bloggers!
