Virginia earthquake rattles East Coast

This I must say was one of the scariest moments of my life!!! Living on the East Coast you don't prepare for such a thing. As I nicely stood by the window near my cubicle on the 3rd floor at work warming up from the son, I could feel a slight rattling under my feet. I was thinking this rattling was a large truck just really close to the building until the shaking became more violent and I was almost knocked off my feet by the movement. I looked at my one fellow co-worker who was near me and asked "what is going on", he preceeded to get up and I followed him to the end of the aisle where I was met by a loud "crash" and another co-worker who we both looked at each other and said " what do we do" we had no idea. We continued to inch every so closely to the stairwell until she finally grabbed my arm and said "let's go". As we continue down the stairs you see the swarm of people running down trying to hurry and get out of the building! It was pure madness. As I exited the building I was still shaking in disbelief that this really just happened. Also, within that instant of disbelief, a feeling of panic entered my body as I realized my boys are at home and I left my purse and cell phone inside the building, I had no way to contact them! I started to cry hysterically trying to figure out what to do when someone offered their phones, but none were working! Finally someone had a working cell phone, however, I have trained my kids to not answer calls they don't know. Well, this plan definitely back fired on me! I decided I'm going to keep calling the house until they get annoyed and possibly answered the phone. Thank goodness, they finally did and they were ok! They said a couple of things fell off the wall and the doggy was a little scared but they were ok! This feeling of relief came over but I was still ready to grab my things and get home to them and hug them every so tightly! This experience is one I hope I don't experience any time soon.
Thanks fellow bloggers for allowing me to share my experience with you. I hope my next posting will be a happier one.
